I agree with you. What I hear from others is "Welcome to the Corporate States of America". I actually have been doing a little research into leaving the country. Which is really sad because I LOVE Oregon! I don't WANT to live elsewhere! Unfortunately, we are the only country that will take anyone. As someone who may be (ahem) pushing 50 most countries will not allow me to emigrate. People my age are considered a "liability".
I have been telling some of my younger friends not to have children unless they can move out of this country. Unless we rest the country from the corporations I predict the total collapse of our society within 50 years, maybe sooner.
One last thought: Most of us, including myself, say things like "The corporations did" this or that. THINK about it. . . there are actual people (I use the term loosely) running these corps. So essentialy our fellow Americans are screwing each other (and not in a pleasant way!) just for the no longer almighty dollar. We have lost all sense of community in this country! Shame on all of us and SHAME ON THOSE OF YOU THAT RUN CORPORATIONS FOR DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY AND SHAME ON OUR GOVERNMENT FOR LETTING THEM! Ahem, parden my yelling.
